Topic: My First Year in the USA
I reached in the United States Of America in June 2006. As I got my visa, I was so excited and so did my family. Since there are only two seasons in my country, I didn't know another one apart of dry season and raining season. I thought that America had equatorial climate like Cameroon. Unfortunately, when our plane landed at Fort Worth international airport, the first impression I had was being inside the oven: the climate was too worming. I had never heard about summer. Although in dry season, the climate is sometimes wormed, the temperature can't approach the one that I felt that evening. As somebody took me to my apartment, I was so impressed on the way to see how the city was constructed. The streets and high way were fabulous. The traffic was inestimable, I had never seen such a number of cars circulating. I discovered that without air conditioner, it is very difficult to live in the USA in Summer. I thought that the worst climate was from June to September, but when the Winter period appeared, I became disappointed. It was too cold and the day that it snowed, I wasn't been able to get out of my apartment. To feel a little bite comfortable, I used to wear two pair of trousers and inside my jacket, I wore a shirt and also a suite. The first difficulty I encountered was expressing myself in English. Although I learned A little English in My home country, I was unable to listening to what Americans were saying. When I spoke they weren't able to get what I was saying. Because I was speaking broken English, very difficult to understand I had to much problem to go shopping. I had never used the computer before but once I arrived in this country, almost everything had to be done on computers. The day I decided to go and take a driver's License test, They told me that it must be taken only on the computer. I was nervous. The instructor directed me how to proceed. I followed carefully the instructions and finally I passed the test. Gradually I became familiar to the USA climates and now I am more comfortable than I was in my country.
