Dailly assignment: Death Penalty as the Punishment for Terrible Crime of Murder

Topic: Death Penalty as the Terrible Crime of Murder

For many years, murders and other kinds of criminals have been involved in a controversial question about legal or illegality of death sentence to one who commits crime. For many people, death penalty is the best ways to discourage murders and establish justice. Nevertheless, other people condemn capital punishment by saying that human life is so precious ; thus we have the obligation to protect it. The three reasons of punishing cruelly murders are based on esthetical, political, and social issue.
For esthetical issue, some people condemn death by saying that it is an immoral action.According to (Warren Richy in Christian Science Monitor page 3), life is so precious and we have the obligation to protect it. Religious in the same way do not agree that justice should be established by killing the criminal. (from Vatican, 8 December 2001), Pope John Paul II said that Jesus Christ whose life was persecuted didn't accept to "meet hate with hate , violence by violence". Another reason to abolish death penalty penalty is unfair judgment. Many studies conducted have shown that most prisoners convicted were not really guilty. Human right organizations at that point are skeptical. The punishment submitted to offenders sometimes does not reflect a proportional fault committed. In 1995, an eighteen years old girl was killed in Singapore just because of drug traffic. For some observers, death sentence may somewhere result to esthetical status. Base to their declarations, in the USA, most offenders may be Hispanic or other minority groups(http://Karisble.com/crpundeath.htm). For ethical matter, death sentence should be suspended. Researches conducted state that capital punishment for political reasons should be abolished. Many critics believe that death punishment could be a source of revenge or intensification of violence for some groups. Today, Iraq is an illustration of that kind of situation. Shiites and Kurds are still fighting and destroying themselves including the massive killing of most US soldiers in Iraq because some of them want to revenge the execution of their former president.(Warren Richey on page 3) agrees that people convicted for their belief or political reason should not be killed because it is an immoral act and it is anti constitutional. In poor countries, massive executions occur because of their political believes. In Cameroon, during the 1992 University strike, some student were shot since they do not belong to the government political party. It should be be unfair to treat people base to their social status. Generally, in poor countries dominated with corruption, people are sometimes convicted not because they are really guilty, but because they don't have money to corrupt or bribe the judge.
In addition to political issue, social issue is one of the points that condemns death punishment. From many studies, it appears that death penalty has not decreased crimes rates; instead the number of murders increases everyday. the solution of those problems will not come from building larger jails, or killing massively criminals. It will be suitable to find the real cause of crime, why murders are committing crimes, how do they get guns? As example in Cameroon, they were hanging a murder in a public place : As I was watching carefully the scene, beside me, without any fear, a thief was removing my purse. There is too much injustice around the world. According to New York Time, It is observed that among many executions, few people are been found killed while they were innocents. The major reasons of applying death sentence were to eliminate crimes, but everywhere, there are more and more murders. Therefore, applying death penalty will not practically eliminate crimes. although death penalty critics refute many arguments requiring the abolition of capital punishment, pro- death punishment recommend that justice should be apply proportionally to the crime committed. According to (pro death penalty.com), people are equal and have the same opportunities to earn their lives; therefore, it will not be acceptable that people for whatever reason kill others. In that way, equal punishment should be apply for the execution committed. For most pro-capital punishment, people against this practice are quite wrong. Although they are criticizing it, in almost every countries, governments have their individual way to punish murders. Death sentence should be the best way to discourage criminals, that is why they often claim that"eye for eye, tooth for tooth". In this way capital punishment should be reinforced anyway.
The divergence point of view of many researchers is so controversial that taking position on this topic depends on anyone's belief. For many people, death penalty should be abolished because ethically,it is an immoral action. Politically it could be a source of revenge, and in the society, it will not really solve problems. Nevertheless, other people are skeptical and support that death sentence is the best way to restore justice. Base on those declarations, there is no typical wright or wrong answer about for or against death punishment. It should be justified depending on the crime.
