Dailly assignment: Graduation Ceremonies and Traditions

Topic: Graduation Ceremonies And Traditions

In almost every country, the graduation ceremony marks a student's profile from one
stage of life to the next. Graduations observances throughout the world are performed in diverse ways. In some cultures graduation is a festivity event in which parties play a more important role than ceremonies do. In other cultures, it is a serious event steeped in centuries of tradition. For example, in some Universities like in Cameroon, the ceremony is rich in tradition. It begins with a procession. Music is played, and professors carry banners and wear hood of different colors to represent their fields of study. Then, the graduates in special gowns and caps come and take their seats. When the senior person of the institute ( university) appears ,they will start with the notional anthem. The festivities will begin by the delivering of many speeches including the awarding of diplomas. As the graduates receive their diplomas, they flip tassel on their hats from one side to the other. Dress is another ritual aspect of graduation. Almost in many cultures, graduates wear caps and gowns. In the USA, those receiving advanced degrees may wear hoods as well. The color and size of the hood show the graduate's field of study and degree. In few cultures, festivities to celebrate graduation are more important than the ceremonies. In some countries, the dance party for graduates, teachers, friends and relatives is the most important event. Graduation ceremonies in any case differ from one country or custom to another.
